Zeiss LSM 980 with Airyscan2

image1245

Zeiss LSM 880 has been replaced in December 2020 for the newest model LSM980 with Airyscan2. LSM980 is an upright laser scanning confocal with Airyscan2 technology, located in the 00-060 imaging room.

The Airyscan module is a new detector concept featuring a 32 channel GaAsP-PMT area detector. The Airyscan detector brings simultaneous improvements in spatial resolution and signal-to-noise ratio in comparison with conventional confocal microscopy. The 1.5X improvement in lateral resolution of the Airyscan technology allows the LSM 880 microscope to resolve small structures up to 120 nm in XY and 350 nm in Z.

The LSM980 uses Zen Blue for data acquisition and it is equipped with a much better and easy to use Tiles and Positions, for multipoint visiting, tiling and stitching. See below the videos from training  session with Zeiss, covering the biggest changes between LSM880 and LSM980, to assist the transition of existing users.
