Zeiss LSM980 with Airyscan 2

SUPER-RESOLUTION CONFOCAL MICROSCOPE

Background

The LSM980 is an upright laser scanning confocal with Airyscan 2 technology.  The Airyscan module is a new detector concept featuring a 32 channel GaAsP-PMT area detector. The Airyscan detector brings simultaneous improvements in spatial resolution and signal-to-noise ratio in comparison with conventional confocal microscopy. The 1.5X improvement in lateral resolution of the Airyscan technology allows the LSM 980 microscope to resolve small structures up to 120 nm in XY and 350 nm in Z.  The LSM980 uses Zen Blue for data acquisition and it is equipped with a much better and easy to use Tiles and Positions, for multipoint visiting, tiling and stitching.

System Applications

Conventional and super-resolution confocal microscopy on live and fixed cells, tissues, engineered constructs and non-biological materials.

Multi-channel XYZ fluorescence and transmitted light imaging modalities.

Optical sectioning for 3D imaging.

Live  imaging of any imaging requiring top down approach into buffer or culture media with dipping objectives for example zebrafish.

Spectral imaging, FRET, FRAP, FCS and co-localisation.
